DMYTRO KOVAL
Maryna Yur,
PhD in Art History
Born on October 23, 1990, in Khotyn.
In 1998 — studied at the Khotyn Children’s Art School.
2002–2007 — studied at the Taras Shevchenko State Art High School.
2007–2008 — held his first two solo exhibitions at the “Mytets” Gallery.
In 2009 — entered NAFAA (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture), specializing in painting (Under the guidance of V. Barynova-Kuleba, I. Kovtonyuk, V. Vyrodova-Hotye).
2012–2016 — studied at the easel painting studio of Professor, Academician, and People’s Artist of Ukraine V. Hurin.

In the same year, he graduated with honors, received a recommendation for a postgraduate internship, and was nominated for the Gold Medal of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

Dmytro Koval has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2017. He is a regular participant in Ukrainian and international exhibitions. His works have been successfully exhibited at shows and auctions in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Canada, China, and other countries. He has also taken part in numerous Ukrainian and international plein air events.
Dmytro Koval is a well-known figure among fine art collectors. A representative of the Kyiv School of Painting, he excels in oil techniques with precise, refined compositions, as well as monumental and sacred art.
In 2016, he participated in painting a branch of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv. This experience inspired a series of unique, atmospheric works deeply rooted in spiritual perception. In contemporary Kyiv painting, he embodies a refined style, conciseness, and technical mastery.
Dmytro Koval enriches his painting techniques with authorial innovations, combining traditional and modern materials. He is the author of major painting series and cycles: Love (2012), Earth (2013–2014), Ukrainian Prayer (2015–2016), Mystification of Love (2017–2018), Mysterious Ukraine: An Essay on History and the Present (2019), and Requiem (2019–2020).
